Canvasing, Soliciting, and Selling
A license pursuant to Chapter 13, Part 2 of the Code of Ordinances is required for all Applicants who wish to sell or offer for sale any goods, commodities, or services or to solicit funds or donations of any kind on public property or by going from house-to-house for such purposes.
Please review the following information on soliciting and peddling before you begin: Township Code of Ordinances
- Applications must be completed and submitted to the Cranberry Township Police Department, 2525 Rochester Road, Suite 500, Cranberry Township Pa., 16066, before the start of peddling and soliciting activities.
- Applicants must provide a copy of a Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Check, obtained within 90 days before the application. Information on how to obtain a background check can be found here.
- Applicants must pay a licensing fee at the time the license is issued. Fees are set in the Cranberry Township Fee Resolution.
- Licensees may not enter onto private property that is marked with No Solicitation signs.
- Licensees may not enter on private property that is on the Do Not Knock list for the purpose of selling goods, commodities, or services.
- Licensees may not engage in criminal activity, harassment, or mischievous activities that negatively impact residents.
- Licensees may not violate Chapter 13, Part 2, or these regulations, including the stated times during which peddling and soliciting activities may take place.
- Licensees must clearly display the identification badge provided during licensing. Lost badges will be replaced for a fee.
- All individuals must have a license to solicit in the Township.

Appeal a Denied License
If you are denied a license or your license is revoked, you may appeal by written request to the Cranberry Township Chief of Police and your appeal will be heard by the Board of Supervisors of Cranberry Township at the next regularly scheduled meeting following the date the written request for appeal is received at the Cranberry Township Police Department.
The license will be approved unless a majority of a quorum of Supervisors determines that the applicant is:
1) seeking to engage in illegal, fraudulent, or criminal activity;
2) has made a material misrepresentation on the license application; or
3) failed to comply with the license requirements.
Alleged criminal activity will be addressed through the Crimes Code.
